In what will be his fourth fight in less than 12 months, Paul will return to face Perry in what should be an entertaining scrap. Regardless of how you feel about Paul, he remains very active. After suffering the first loss of his professional boxing career at the hands of Tommy Furythe first actual boxer he’s faced — he has bounced back by winning three straight over Nate Diaz, Andre August, and most recently, knocking out Ryan Bourland four months ago (see it again here). As far as Perry is concerned, he didn’t end his UFC career all that well, losing four of his last five fights before making his way to Bareknuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), where he has gone 5-0. And he did that against some rather lofty competition, defeating Michael Page, Eddie Alvarez, Luke Rockhold and Thiago Alves. In the process, he won the inaugural “King of Violence” championship, too.

This is an interesting fight because — despite Perry ending his mixed martial arts (MMA) career on a sour note — he has been doing quite well for himself when all he has to do is use his fists.

Like, really well.

He did lose his lone boxing match to Kenneth McNeil in 2015, but other than that, he is undefeated in all boxing-related battles. That said, he does tend to get a bit too wild, too overzealous. And while that style may work in the bareknuckle world, in boxing, it’s a bit different. And whether you like him or not, Paul has really honed his skills, and if he catches Perry slipping, he can knock him out.

What’s Not:

In what is the most lopsided matchup on the card, Alexis Chapparo will take on Kevin Hill. Chapparo is 17-15, which is not good by any means, while Hill is just 1-1 and made his professional debut two years ago. I never want to clown on any athlete who fights for a living, but the skill seems to be severely lacking for both men.

Injuries:

Paul was originally set to face Mike Tyson on this date in Dallas, Texas, but the fight was scrapped after “Iron Mike” suffered medical complications while on a flight. As a result, the fight was rescheduled for Nov. 15, 2024. Not willing to sit idle for too long, Paul convinced Perry to take this fight to fill the void in the meantime.

For better or worse.

Headlining the undercard will be a women’s 168-pound fight between Shadasia Green vs. Natasha Spence. Green is 13-1 with 11 knockouts. She suffered the first loss of her career at the hands of Franchon Crews Dezurn in her last fight. As for Spence, she is just 8-4-1, going 0-2-1 in her last three fights.

Angel Barrientes, 21, brings his eight-fight win streak to his bout against Edwin Rodriguez in a 122-pound contest. Rodriguez is on a heck of a run thanks to his 30-2 record. He is a dangerous orthodox fighter who is 6-1 in his last seven fights with 20 knockouts on his resume. As for Barrientes, seven of his 11 wins have come by way of knockout.

In a 175-pound tilt, Ariel Perez will go toe-to-toe against Dane Guerrero in an eight-round affair. Perez is just 3-0 after making his professional debut less than one year ago, scoring two technical knockout wins in the process. Who Needs A Win Badly:

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has never quite lived up to his father’s legacy, but that’s a tough task to ask of anyone because Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. has a resume not many can get close to. Indeed, Jr.’s career has been up and down and getting wins consistently has been very hard for him to do as of late. To be fair, he did start off his career with an impressive 40-0-2 record, but since losing to Sergio Martinez in 2012, his career has really gone downhill. He is just 7-5 since and has faced several personal issues that may have impacted his performance inside the ring. Now, he looks to earn his first back-to-back wins in almost eight years when he takes on former UFC star, Uriah Hall. Yes, it’s an odd matchup to say the least. Hall ended his UFC career on two straight defeats. He made his professional boxing debut in 2022, defeating former NFL star, Le’veon Bell, via unanimous decision. While it was a late addition to the card, it goes to show you how far Chavez has fallen. If Chavez loses to Hall, it will be a huge hit to his confidence ... and resume.

Serrano — current WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring female Featherweight champion — is perhaps the most skilled fighter on this card with a professional record of 46-2-1. After suffering a loss at the hands of Katie Taylor in April 2022, she bounced back by winning four in a row, including her latest win against Danila Ramos and has won 32 out of her last 33 boxing bouts. Morgan doesn’t have the same experience as Serrano, though she does have an impressive 14-1 record, which includes 12 technical knockout wins. This is her toughest test to date, but a win will put her over the top and bring forth opportunities she’s only dreamed of.

Undefeated 25 year-old, Tony Aguilar, will put his 12-0-1 mark on the line against Corey Marksman in a 125-pound affair. He’s an orthodox fighter with only three stoppages to his name, but he is an up-and-coming contender who is out to elevate his stock. As for Marksman, he is also undefeated (9-0-1) with seven knockouts.

Someone’s “O” has got to go!

In another 135-pound bout, Ashton Sylve will do battle with Lucas Bahdi. Sylve is just 20 years of age, but has already established a solid undefeated record (11-0) with nine knockout wins. Bahdi is 10 years his foe’s elder but is just as dangerous, racking up an impressive 16-0 record with 14 stoppages.

Enjoy the fights!
