Healthy kid friendly snacks, after school snacks, and even healthy snacks to lose weight are hard to find, but these frozen yogurt and granola banana pops are a hit!

Does anyone else have a hard time thinking up good, healthy and easy afternoon snacks? These frozen yogurt and granola banana pops are our favorite!

You only need three ingredients and either popsicle sticks or wooden sticks meant for caramel apples etc, but these ingredients together create not only our kids’ favorite snack, but one that Carrian and I (Cade here!!) love too.

Healthy Snacks for Kids

Our grocery stores are slam packed with “snacks” which consist of mostly sugar, fats etc. I hate the thought of fruit roll ups. Sorry, but it just doesn’t seem like the type of snack that would benefit growth, and development, not to mention keep bellies full, and we all know how annoying the constant “can I have a snack” can be.

I’m not at all above fruit snacks or fruit roll ups, I don’t mind our kids having them at all. Carrian and I just try to take care of our bodies without stress and simple fruit and veggies are a great way to teach our kids how to later take care of themselves when they aren’t in our home.

Frozen Yogurt and Granola Banana Pops

I’ve set out to find my own solutions, and these frozen yogurt and granola banana pops are one of our go-to snacks. Nothing too fancy, just quick and reliable options that will keep my kiddos happy and healthy.

Start out by buying some simple popsicle sticks. We just snag them off of Amazon, because I am all about convenience and unlike Carri, I’m not sure where to even buy popsicle sticks. 🙂 Actually, lately we’ve been buying these caramel apple sticks which go in the banana easier as it doesn’t have edges that push the banana open.

Cut each banana in half and gently slide the stick into the banana. Repeat with all bananas.

Place the yogurt into a dish or cup and either dip or spread the yogurt over the bananas.

Roll the bananas in granola and place on a silpat or parchment lined cookie sheet. We’ve linked to our favorite products.

How to Freeze Bananas

Bananas need to be frozen in a flat layer and they will slip and slide and then stick together as they end up touching.

Arrange the bananas on the cookie sheet and place on an even surface in the freezer. We use our deep freeze in the garage and get them done fast.

Tips for Yogurt Bananas

• The bigger the bananas the better your banana pops will work as you’ll be able to insert the stick deep enough that you can balance the banana pop.

• Let the bananas sit out for 5 minutes before you eat them in order to allow the banana to soften just slightly.

• Try using a flavored Greek yogurt as it gives you more flavor and fun all while adding extra protein and nutrients.

• If you’re lacking granola, don’t fret, just crush up a granola bar which is what we did in this case.

• One good thing to know about this snack is that the yogurt can pull on the banana when you are dipping it in the yogurt. It’s a smart idea to have a spoon in there so help lift the tip of the banana out of the yogurt.

How Do You Store Yogurt Dipped Bananas?

Store yogurt dipped bananas only in the freezer as the fridge will allow the yogurt to melt and separate and the banana will brown. This is an especially great snack for summer rather than just a popsicle and stained shirts.
