What day does the military get paid? ›

While everyone in the military knows that paydays are on the 1st and 15th of every month, the actual payday doesn't always land on those dates because of weekends and holidays. If you're like many of us, the money may run out before payday rolls around.

Active duty, National Guard and Reserve members get paid twice a month, typically on the 1st and 15th, unless either day falls on a holiday or weekend.

A pay period or pay cycle is a regularly scheduled duration of time when workers earn wages that will be paid to them on their next paycheck. Each pay period has a start date, an end date, and, generally speaking, when one pay period ends, the next one begins without interruption.

The 2024 pay increase (which took effect Jan. 1) was 5.2% — the largest bump since 2002 and the second-biggest boost in 40 years.

BAH payments coincide with your regular military pay schedule. You receive BAH twice a month, on the 1st and 15th, alongside your regular pay.
