Excellent information Wirepoints. I would like one more statistic. How many criminals are charged and indited for a gun crime when state gun laws are violated? If a gun was even carried by a felon, they should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I want to see if the state is serious about taking criminals and guns off the street. I have looked for this information and cannot find it so I suspect they do not prosecute the criminals.

Because the moron Kim f*ckx and democrats downgrade serious felonies and murders and other crimes to misdemeanors…..so really the numbers aren’t an accurate reflection; the crime is way way higher, I would probably multiply all these numbers by at least 3. Illinois Supreme Court upholds the no cash bail provision of the SAFET act. 5 to 2 decision. The dissenting votes came from, GASP, the 2 Republican judges. All 5 democrat judges sided together to uphold the no bail thing. Did anyone expect anything different? Just like not prosecuting shoplifters, slap on the wrist punishments for repeat gun offenders, dropping or reducing charges or refusing to approve charges and asking for never ending, impossible more investigations, this will have an impact on crime. No fear of punishment equals no fear of getting caught. Democrats, the most dangerous animal in the country.

And cue black Caesar Johnson crowing about how crime is subsiding under his leadership. Yet murder and other crimes are up, and the crimes that have decreased are probably the result of a liberal justice system allowing what were considered felonies two years or so ago to be pled down to misdemeanors. Throw in the estimated 20% unreported/ underreported crime to put a smiley face on a horrible situation and the picture becomes much clearer.

Chicago votes these people in so they have to live with it. My problem is that since Chicago has the majority representation in the state legislature the are spreading their ideology to the entire state. Criminals used to stay out of the suburbs because we did not put up with it but now state law prevents our law enforcement from holding criminal conduct accountable. We used to enjoy going into the city but no more.

There’s a silver lining here that no one is reporting on. Although Chicago is freeing criminals on a daily basis, the suburban and downstate counties are locking criminals up pretrial more than ever before. The law is backfiring throughout the state. In suburban and downtown counties, prosecutors are bringing pretrial detention motions every time they can, and the judges are granting them most of the time. There’s a new fast track appeals process to contest a pretrial detention, and the downstate appellate courts are almost uniformly agreeing with trial court judges and the prosecutors and people are staying in jail.…Read more »

Take a day-trip to a local inner-city courthouse. Sit in on the call. Many of the cases called have charges dropped. Felonies too: drugs, gun charges, assaults, repeat offenders. First court date, all charges dropped, case dismissed, Defendant goes home free. Even serious offenders like armed robberies, violent assaults, etc, they go home on electronic monitoring. Only the worst of the worst (deplorables of course, and rapists etc) are actually held in jail. Or zoom into a traffic court in Markham or Maywood and just listen to the court call. If I was a cop I’d do things strictly “by the book” with no creative enhancements. I’d spend all day doing my paperwork, to not be reprimanded or worse indicted. If a criminal was black and I was white, I’d think twice about doing anything at all, because I might get indicted or thrown in jail. A couple of weeksback a 13 year old killed another child by stabbing on a Collinsville Illinois schoolyard. Only one news channel even mentioned it. We haveour problems downstate too but, like always, it just gets ignored al la Chicago style, Crime is an Illinois problem not just Chicago/s.

Remember that homicides, shootings, car jackings, etc that happen on the expressways inside the city limits do not count as Chicago crimes because the expressways are under the jurisdiction of the Illinois State Police. So the numbers get distorted. Just a qualification of why stats posted on other sites differ than the ones the city reports.

Juvenile stats are not counted, nor are the many crimes committed by the perps that are “ adjudicated “. It’s a nifty way to keep people in the dark as to the actual amount of crimes being committed, and to spare the feelings of the perpetually aggrieved.
